Cadre Advisors

Army ROTC Cadre members are Active Duty Army Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) who instruct Cadets and oversee the program. Cadre Officers and NCOs provide cadets with a wealth of knowledge drawn from years of experience both in the Army and with UAA.

  • Biography
    MAJ Fernandez joined Gonzaga University鈥檚 Reserves Officer Training Corps program in 2008. In 2012, she commissioned as a 2LT in the Army Nurse Corps and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She served on Active Duty as a Registered Nurse working in various specialties including the Wounded Warrior Unit, Burn Unit, and Labor and Delivery, serving at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Joint Base San Antonio and Fort Riley.

    She transitioned to the 夜色视频app Army National Guard in 2017 and commanded the Medical Detachment from 2018-2020. She met MAJ Michael Fernandez while serving as 夜色视频app鈥檚 Army Combat Fitness Test Coordinator and they married in Fall 2020.

    Six weeks later, she deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as the Base Defense Operations Commander and Mongolian Liaison in support of Operation Freedom鈥檚 Sentinel from 2020-2021. She served on the Joint Staff as a Medical Planning Officer and then transitioned to the Officer Strength Manager in the Recruiting and Retention Battalion. Her last assignment was with the 1-297th Infantry Battalion as the Battalion S1.

    She currently serves as the 夜色视频app Assistant Professor of Military Science, a dream job she wanted since she commissioned. MAJ Fernandez received her Master鈥檚 in Healthcare Administration in April 2024 through American Military University. Although Nursing was a passion for a long time, MAJ Fernandez felt a calling to transition her focus to Human Resources and branch transferred to the Adjutant General Corps. Even though this was a major career change, she is still able to help Soldiers, just in a different way.

    MAJ Fernandez鈥檚 husband is currently deployed to Europe. Together they share a 9-month old son Noah and two huskies Keetna and Ghost.
